What a great weekend of quality senior hockey on the right size rink for a change!!!

what did everyone think of the standard of the tournament?

Right size rink for a change ! youve got to be joking.
I went down with my son on the sunday to see the
Hornets / Warriors game and what a disapointment
the Warriors couldnt cope with the size of the rink
they looked lost on it and it showed 7-0 defeat.
Well done Hornets .

Well done hornets! But for the bigger picture.. , make sure you prepare for europe, u need to step up at least two levels to compete over there. Lets see how good you really are! good luck.
in defence of the warriors, when you play in a rectangle sports hall all year round and then play in a full size rink of course they are going to struggle! The physics of the game are totally different. The hornets and other teams play there often so they have a slight advantage.
regardless of that fact.. on the day the hornets were the better team.
Don't judge the warriors by watching one game. They are 4 times national champions, and always finish in the top 4 in europe. has any other British team done that ??

Firstly, the Cruisers won tournaments in Europe and that includes back to back wins in the Rams Cup 1997, 98 (I think it was called that). Also, Panthers do not play on rinks, they play and practice in rectangle sports halls just like the Warriors, not sure about Redditch but they also took points off the Warriors. The difference between the Warriors and other teams are their stupidly fast, swerving shots that win them most games are less effective on larger surfaces. No one is judging the Warriors, they are still a great team, but also still a young team that dont have a great deal of experience playing on larger rinks. This will come in time as we start to get better facilities.
There is so much negativity from other teams, the Hornets are consistently good, and the best team to represent the U.K in the Europeans. Dont lets ask them how good they really are, we know they are good and I am sure they will play to the best of their ability.
If people dont have anything supportive to say dont say anything at all, there are too many bad losers, and bad winners on this message board. GROW UP AND ACCEPT IT ISN'T YOUR TIME YET OR YOU DON'T WIN EVERY GAME ALL THE TIME, THATS HOW LIFE WORKS!!!!

I agree the rink does change things and there is a sound argument for not deciding such important things as Euro qualification on one tournament. The argument that Hornets play there week in and week out is not true. We are only just becoming acclimatised to the rink. Those who say lets see how good you realy are onbviously dont know that this wil be our 5th Euro tournament in 3 years and none of them have been invitational. We do it at ball and puck so there can be no doubt that we arent half bad. Top and bottom is that British Hockey has some cracking good teams in it and its a shame they cant all do well. Warriors are one of the best ever and so will continue. Its a shame BiSHA can't get the premier league right, Then we'd all get better hockey as a reward. As for the real argument about rink size and squad size, age or experience, you only have to look at Panthers with 5 out players and the Junior wasps perfomance to see that good players adapt.

Hornets Beat La Tour for 3rd Place in the Europeans 2004, they also was knocked out but La Tour 4th in 2004 and Vestebro Stars the champions from 2004 in the 2005 compertition, honestly i dont think this is bad. people being really good at shouting there mouth off is the problem with this sport rather than looking up to good teams and players we pull them down. NICE ONE! look at the facts first they are not opinion you loser. Good luck Hornets and Panthers please shut these idiots up!

This is our fifth trip to europe in three years. The above thread is right it is a differant level to the UK.Teams are much older and some are on a semi-pro basis they are well sponsored, some have there own rinks even and have large squads. We know that some of their players did not play in the tournement but came just to get a chance. No moaning they are extremley proffesional. The strongest teams come from Germany,Swizland and Demark .The Dutch where poor by comparison. We hope for a good draw this time and maybe who knows ! Thanks for the good wishes
